Conclusions and Discussion of Project Details

Round table with the students

Impacts

  • Increased Awareness among the participants regarding the importance of involving refugees and other stakeholders in the design process.
  • Adoption of Digital Workflows: The conference may have encouraged attendees to adopt digital workflows in their future design processes.
  • Exploration of Emerging Technologies: The conference may have sparked curiosity and exploration of emerging technologies in the field of architecture and urban design.
  • Enhanced Technical Skills: Through workshops, demonstrations, and presentations, the conference provided participants with opportunities to acquire or improve their technical skills related to digital technologies and ICTs
  • Future-Proofing Design Practices: The students gained insights into emerging trends, technologies, and best practices, allowing them to future-proof their design practices and stay abreast of advancements in the digital realm

Insights

  • The students demonstrate a limited or negligible understanding of digital technologies, emphasizing the need for focused efforts to enhance their knowledge and proficiency in this area.
  • During the conference, in-depth discussions centered around three key aspects: digital survey, app development, and stakeholder engagement. Among these, stakeholder engagement was perceived as relatively less important by the students, potentially due to their limited exposure to the significance and impact of involving stakeholders in the design process.
  • According to the questionnaire conducted after the lecture, the students recognized that the conference highlighted two key aspects: the significance of engaging refugees and other stakeholders in the design process was emphasized. Secondly, the conference underscored the importance of comprehending the specific cultural, social, and infrastructural aspects of the humanitarian setting before integrating digital technologies. This demonstrates an understanding of the holistic approach needed for successful and contextually appropriate design solutions.
